Policies
Tufts University has several policies and guidelines related to scholarly communication:
- Policy on Fair Use of Copyrighted Materials
- Governs the use of copyrighted materials for teaching and research.
- Policy on Rights and Responsibilities with Respect to Intellectual Property
- Describes who is covered, what is covered, IP management, income distribution, equity ownership, and copyright.
- Information Stewardship Policies
- Outlines the actions all members of the Tufts community are expected to follow when working with institutional data and systems.
- Authorship Guidance
- Includes standards to apply in decisions regarding authorship, and to provide support for our research community when a disagreement or dispute arises involving an authorship determination.

Tufts Digital Library deposit
Use the Fillable TDL License form (.pdf) if you’re working with the library on mediated deposit of your work or your students’ work to Tufts Digital Library (i.e. you’re not using our self-deposit form)
Speaker consent
Use these forms if you’d like to make an audio or video recording of a guest speaker, presenter or performer at Tufts. The forms give permission to record and share the recording in Tufts Digital Library.
Use the Speaker Consent Form - no 3rd party material release form (.docx) for performances where the performer or speaker has not incorporated any third-party material owned by someone else. They could choose, if they’d like, to allow the recording of their performance in Tufts Digital Library to be made openly available.
Use the Speaker Consent Form - contains 3rd party material release form (.docx) for performances where the performer or speaker has incorporated third-party material owned by someone else that they don’t have permission to license. These recordings can be deposited in Tufts Digital Library and made accessible to authenticated Tufts University users.

Creative Commons licensing for Tufts staff
Tufts University staff members can use the Creative Commons License Request Form to apply to the Office for Technology Transfer and Industry Collaboration for permission to license work created at Tufts under a Creative Commons license.
