Your scholarly profile

Actively managing your scholarly profile allows you to tell the story of your work the way you want it to be told, and helps researchers & potential collaborators find your work. Some steps you can take include:

Establish an ORCID

If you're planning on publishing, it's important to establish a unique author/researcher ID. ORCID is a persistent digital identifier that distinguishes you from every other researcher and, through integration in key research workflows such as manuscript and grant submission, automatically links you and your professional activities. ORCID works across systems, which means that all your different scholarly activities can be represented in one profile.

Register for your ID on the ORCID website. It can also be linked to your Scopus Author Profile or Web of Science ResearcherID. 

Update your Tufts faculty profile

Most Tufts faculty members have a public-facing profile on the Tufts faculty profiles site. The profile highlights elements of your career like research interests, teaching, publications, service, awards, and grants, allowing you to make your work more visible and for potential collaborators to find you. The profiles also feeds information to your page on school or department sites.

Core information is automatically populated in the profile, but you have the opportunity to add additional information into Elements (the back end of the profile) and make sure your profile is up to date, ensuring it's telling the most robust story possible about your work.

Set up your Google Scholar profile

Google Scholar Profiles allow you to keep track of your academic publications, see who is citing them, and calculate several citation metrics. Your profile will appear in Google Scholar results when people search for your name.

Measure research impact

You may be asked to demonstrate the impact of your work for the purposes of grant applications, progress reports and renewals, or performance reviews, tenure, and promotion.
